SIRI has adjusted its practice on the requirement for a municipal permit with regard to applications for residence- and work permits under the Fast Track Scheme.

So far, SIRI has not required documentation proving that the employing company has the necessary municipal permit to employ foreign labor prior to commencing processing of the application.

However, this practice has now been changed. As of 15 May 2023, it is required that documentation for the company’s municipal permit for the employment of foreign workers issued by a Greenlandic municipality is submitted when applying for a residence- and work permit in Greenland under the Fast Track Scheme.

This means that the employing company must have obtained the municipal permission for the employment of foreign workers before an application for a residence- and work permit in Greenland under the Fast Track scheme can be submitted to SIRI.
