Update on the Covid-19 restrictions for traveling in and to Greenland

The restrictions for traveling in and to Greenland has been amended.

Restrictions for entry into Greenland by air

To be permitted to enter Greenland, you must either be

  • fully vaccinated,
  • a resident of Greenland, or
  • relocating to Greenland.

To enter Greenland, if you are 2 years or older, you must:

  • show documentation for a negative PCR-test for Covid-19 from a Nordic Country, UK, or a country in EU or EFTA. The test must not be older than 48 hours from the time of departure,
  • wear a facemask on the journey – in the airport, on the aeroplane etc. (NB: This is only required for people aged 12 and older), and
  • observe one of following requirements:
    • If you are a resident of Greenland, you must document this with a certificate of residence, or you must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and be able to show documentation for this.
    • If you are not a resident of Greenland, you must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and be able to show documentation for this.
    • If you are not a resident of Greenland and are between the ages of 2 and 11 years old, you must show a negative PCR-test for Covid-19 that is not older than 48 hours old at the time of departure.

Passengers who have been identified as a close contact to someone infected within the last week, must show a negative PCR test from 4 days after the contact with the infected person, as well as a negative test two days later than this.

If you previously have been infected with Covid-19 and can show documentation of a positive PCR-test result which, at the time of entry, is at least 14 days old and at not more than 12 weeks old, you do not need to present a negative Covid-19 test upon entry to Greenland, and you are covered by the same rules as fully vaccinated people.

Domestic Travel in Greenland

The following applies for domestic travel in Greenland:

Face Mask – For people aged 12 or older, face masks must be used on the journey – in the airport, on the aeroplane etc.

People, aged 2 years or older, traveling from a city or settlement to another destination in Greenland must either show documentation of fully vaccination against Covid-19 or of a negative PCR-test for Covid-19. The PCR-test must not be older than 48 hours at the time of departure.

Unvaccinated people staying in cities or settlements, where it is not possible to be tested for Covid-19:

  • Unvaccinated people over the age of 2 years old traveling out of a city or settlement where it is not possible to be tested must quarantine at their destination for 14 days, or until they get a negative PCR test. If it is not possible to get a PCR test at the destination, they must quarantine for 14 days.

Earlier infected – People who previously have been infected with Covid-19:

  • If you within the last 12 weeks of the departure have been infected with Covid-19, and you can show a positive PCR-test result as documentation for this, the same rules apply as if you have been fully vaccinated.
